Hello,
I am a proud Domer '09 and am graciously headed to med school in 2010. Before that...lets see...I wanted to be a fighter pilot, astronaut, cop, fireman, Batman, military general, NBA player, someone who just makes lots and lots of money, Lego engineer, those guys on animal shows, and an explorer. Honestly, being Steve Irwin or Bear Grylls would be a sweet job...but these I believe are only jobs. Very few professions, I believe, entail such involvement in the lives of others as medicine. I am very excited to enter the field, and I hope all of my dreams will turn out to be all I hoped for and more! We'll see!
Join me this journey to become a doctor. I hope to discover some ideas I would have never seen without writing, and maybe even to teach you readers. I'll give my opinions about some pressing issues facing 20-somethings in this very formative stage of our lives. You can agree or disagree with me, doesn't matter. Even if you disagree, at least I know you are reading! It was a long and difficult road, and a complete miracle that I was accepted somewhere (New Orleans here I come!). ND was amazing, I cannot say that enough. It is the school that you will love because it will challenge you in infinite ways. They just built 2 new dorms: Ryan Hall and Duncan Hall. I hope they build more, since everyone should have at least the chance to experience that awesome, sometimes frozen, never dull, most unique, and ballerific place with something for everyone. Now I must wait! Having graduated, I'm in a post-bac program in Philly that I will gladly end this semester. I think its time to finally live like this again:
Viva Mexico, cabrones! I have to give it up to the Puebla, Mexico people. You guys got me into medical school. For all future docs...heck lets spread this out to everyone...study abroad is the greatest, most challenging, and fulfilling experience you will ever have. Do it! Leaving Mexico in December 2007, after 5 months of speaking Spanish, being treated like an intern in the hospitals, and discovering myself through new friends and new places....I learned my life officially began that fateful day when I was greeted by my homestay mom...who spoke no English. ND is great, but the fullness of the school opens itself up while abroad.
Plans for this year: read sleep read sleep, take a cross-country road trip, backpack South America (all of it), learn to scubadive, climb another mountain, see ND friends as often as I can, further cultivate my understanding of compassionate, medicine, and faith, and just plain old freaking RELAX.
People! If you have graduated, y'all are da bomb! If you're still in ND, you are one lucky kid. Whoever you are, thanks for stopping by. Thank you to all my family, friends, and people (all of you, no matter how transient our conversation!) I have met in my life. You have brought me to where I am today.
Peace and Much Love to y'all.
